Traditional marquetry
Yannick Chastang makes small or large marquetry panels to order
Modern reproduction of a Boulle floral marquetry panel made by Yannick Chastang in 1995. Only those species of woods known to have been available to Boulle were used and eighteenth-century recipes were used to dye the stained woods. The vase is made of blue-painted horn imitating lapis lazuli, as used in Boulle’s time. The veneer is 1.5 mm saw cut veneer and the marquetry was cut using an improved version of the marquetry donkey illustrated in this site. There are over 1200 individual pieces of wood. Size: 75cm by 55cm. © Yannick Chastang.
