Copy of the Bureau du Roi

In the 1940s, the famous cabinet maker Francois Linke started making a copy of the world famous roll-top desk made for king Louis XV and now at Versailles.  Because of the Second World War, the desk was never finished.  Nearly 70 years later, after more than 5 years of work and thousands of hours of work, we completed the desk.  At times the work was extremely challenging and difficult; it involved casting, chasing, fitting and gilding all of the gilt bronzes, restoration of the desk, of the marquetry, completion of the complex mechanism and  sourcing and project managing the making of the complex clock.  The project was unusual and very expensive but very rewarding.  With this experience, Yannick Chastang is in a unique position to make all your dreams come true.  If you want to read more about this project, please see our publication page and the published articles.

There are no challenges too big for us to consider and we look forward to discussing your projects.
